Once you get past the connection period the MP is actually quite good and then the round ends and steam inexplicably decides that server wasn't right for you and moves you somewhere else so you wait 5 minutes trying to connect while it brings in enough people to start the server, throws them out, brings in different people, throws them out then throws you out then, takes you to a match somewhere else and the game is good again until it decides that actually you have the right teams but it's being hosted on the wrong server so it pauses the game as you were about to kill someone that now has 20 seconds to get ready to turn round and shoot you and the game restarts because they've transfered it to another host and the guy you were killing but who just got advance warning does shoot you in the face and you're annoyed with steam but the game is good so you forget it and get a chopper which is awesome if stupidly overpowered but the game finishes because it only goes up to 7500 points which takes like 2 minutes so while you go to change your perks steam decides that it's found a better server for you and so it takes you there but there aren't enough people so it tries other servers close you and then further away and further away until yes it drops you back in the game you were in before at least you think it's the game you were in but you can't remember because you only played for two minutes and can't remember anyone's names let alone get to know them or even be able to tell if they are a real person or just a really dumb computer bot but the game has started and it's good again but oh no wait it's on the wrong host again so we'll sit here like melons while steam moves us somewhere else and oh look I completed a challenge which isn't hard because I've got one every 5 seconds and OMG I am ruling this match this 7 kill streak is almost embarrassing but oh no wait this isn't the right server for me anymore so steams moving me somewhere else which is fine because it's not as if I paid them to play here but oh wait I did but never mind because it's found a server and the game is good again so I'd better enjoy the two minutes of play while I can before steam moves me again...
Holy irritating MP server selection Batman!

I love how the post turned from a simple question to a heated debate about the game

best thing is more and more i play it more i like it
ive found that if you do big invites groups you dont seem to have a problem. its when there two or three of u it can be a ballache. as for the game once you get to a decnnt rank its alot better. overall not as good as cod 4 but thats cause of the dedi situation only. you can tweek your configs fps and such easy without console and some nabs has even made a mod to get the console open (DONT USE UNTIL ITS OKd) but whether they will allow that is anyones guess. hopefully with enough sales they might say give em dedi cant see it though . fingers crossed lol

It's a really good game, and if they patch it to allow for dedicated servers it would be even better. It's more sneaky beaky than CoD4 was and I miss being able to really tear it up with 60 man servers but it's definitely worth playing.
Yesterday I was getting abuse because apparently I was hosting the game and they were all lagging. That was fun. I mean it's not as if you volunteer to host it they just dump it on you which is a cack idea because my connection can barely support me let alone a half dozen other randoms... They should at least make the servers like they are on TF2 they'll be getting lobbied hard by the people that supply game servers to do it anyway.

hopefully with enough sales they might say give em dedi cant see it though . fingers crossed lol First week (5 days) sales numbers are staggering... Total - ~9.4 million copies sold (>$600,000,000 revenue) Platform breakdown: XBox360 - 5.3 million (56%) PS3 - 3.4 million (38%) PC - 0.5 million (6%) Source Really put it in perspective - with numbers like that I'm surprised we got anything at all tbh If I was making it I wouldn't have bothered with much more than a quick console port either |

tbh i am having hardly any problems and the people ive noticed who are having the problems are likely to have
antivirus blocking router issues bad connection in first place too old pc not familar with steam most of these can be cured in five minutes unless you have a bad connection. at end of day if you have a bad connection you cant blame iw for that . i join a game almost instantly and do host alot of games with out many major probs. heres a typical game when i logon and join a game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuKdSdeNlfM hardly bad takes me as long to get in a server and play on cod 4 ! But a case could be made for the poor PC sales resulting from what they have done to the PC version of the game. Maybe if they had kept in Lean and Dedi servers sales may have been much more Maybe, and if the PC community wasn't full of thieving c*nts who want everything for nothing they'd probably be even higher still Tbh I don't think those are poor sales - about 5% PC share is about the same as CoD4 & WaW so I'd say it's pretty static. It's just that the massive volumes shifting on consoles dwarfes them - you've got to go all the way back to CoD2 to find a time when console volumes were low enough to make the PC look like a serious platform contender. Of course they obviously made enough with vCoD to make a CoD2 so it's not that PC volumes don't make money, it's just that they don't make as much money as easily The PC community may have got them started with vCoD, but from CoD2 onwards it's been console money in the bank |
